Knowledge brokering is a crucial strategy for narrowing the persistent gap between a growing science of learning evidence base and its uneven implementation into education policy and practice worldwide. We identified key barriers —including systemic constraints, misaligned incentives, epistemological differences, and fragmented terminologies—that limit the effective use of research across diverse educational contexts.
We synthesize linear, relational, and systems-oriented approaches to knowledge brokering from education and health sectors, illustrating their application through research-practice partnerships and regional evidence intermediaries. We propose the joint 2025 UNESCO–GSoLEN annual meeting as a venue to refine core concepts, clarify stakeholder roles, and co-design more coherent, scalable architectures for knowledge brokering that better connect researchers, educators, and policymakers.
