Winsome Waite
Co-Founder and Senior Advisor, GSoLEN.
Winsome Waite, PhD, is a seasoned educational leader and program strategist with over 37 years of experience spanning early childhood through K–12 education in the United States. Her career has included roles as a classroom teacher at the early childhood, elementary, and secondary levels, adjunct graduate instructor, and program leader within school districts and education-focused nonprofits.
Dr. Waite’s current work focuses on the science of learning and development, with a particular emphasis on adolescence. Throughout her career, she has led program development and research-to-practice initiatives grounded in equity and excellence, consistently working to bridge research, policy, and practice. She is recognized as a trusted thought partner and practitioner, collaborating with education leaders at all system levels to design and implement research-informed programs that are culturally responsive and asset-based.
Her work is distinguished by an ability to translate evidence into action, always considering local context and stakeholder voice. Dr. Waite draws on an extensive network of educators, researchers, and policy experts to develop strategic, inclusive solutions that drive measurable impact for diverse communities.
Currently, she serves as an advisor to the Science of Learning and Development (SoLD) Alliance and as a senior advisor to the Global Science of Learning Education Network (GSoLEN). Her influence spans national, state, and local initiatives, reflecting a career committed to both formal education systems and vital community-based learning experiences.
Dr. Waite holds dual bachelor’s degrees in early childhood and elementary education, a master’s degree in K–12 curriculum and instruction with a focus on literacy, and a doctorate in educational leadership.
